about

Like his other albums, Martin's 'Random Piano' is free style, born of incessant tinkering, doodling, sculpting and improvisation, this time at the keyboard. As the title suggests, a pretty random collection of pieces created over a twenty year period and all but forgotton about. It's a bit like cleaning out a cupboard and finding all sorts of stuff: Bachian two part inventions, ballads, Blues going weird, moody synth TV like themes and even a cool jazz trio. This is a good listen, rich in melodic invention and born of improvisation. See if you can spot the two pieces played by the computer, Martin told me he wrote the scores, but couldn't play them.
